Stay Awhile - The Bells
Q:
I know the year was 1973--summer.A verse in the song was something like
"into my life (or room) he creeps" It was sung in almost a whisper of a
voice, and it's driving me crazy!
Please help!! Kerry A: Hi Kerry-
Thanks for taking the time to send me your question.
I believe the song you are looking for is "Stay Awhile" by The Bells. I
have included the lyrics below.
It was a hit in 1971 - not 1973. However, that doesn't mean that a
local DJ in your area didn't have a thing for that song and play it
often during the summer of '73.
"Stay Awhile" was a #1 hit in Canada (#7 Billboard, USA) for The Bells
in 1971.
They also had an earlier Top-10 Canadian hit with "Fly Little White
Dove, Fly" in 1970.
"Stay Awhile" is a duet. The first verse and chorus is sung by
Jacki Ralph and the second verse and chorus
is sung by her brother-in-law, Cliff Edwards. The rest of the song is
sung together
I hope this has been helpful. Please let me know if I can assist you
with anything else.
Thanks-
Raven
Stay Awhile The Bells **
[Written by Ken Tobias]
Into my room he creeps
Without making a sound
Into my dreams he peeps
With his hair all long and hanging down
How he makes me quiver
How he makes me smile
With all this love I have to give him
I guess I'm gonna stay with him awhile
She brushes the curls from my eyes
She drops her robe on the floor
And she reaches for the light on the bureau
And the darkness is her pillow once more
How she makes me quiver
How she makes me smile
With all this love I have to give her
I guess I'm gonna stay with her awhile
How it makes me quiver
How it makes me smile
With all this love I have to give you
Guess I'm gonna stay with you awhile
How it makes me quiver
How it makes me smile
With all this love I have to give you
Guess I'm gonna stay with you awhile
Stay with you awhile
(Whispered)
I guess I'm gonna stay
